Boswell tunes Sharkey to bring home three podium finishes!

This past weekend was the final round of the WKA Manufactures Cup held at the New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ for SCS Racing driver Shawn Sharkey. Shawn calls this "NJMP" his home track, and was looking to bring home to good results to finish off the season. On Saturday in KPP heavy Shawn would post a time in qualifying good enough for the 4th position. In the heat race Shawn got a great start falling into the 4th position but on lap two got punted off in turn nine falling back to the 15th position. In the final event Shawn made a stellar run making it all the way up to the third position for a podium finish. Struggling a little in the Yamaha lite class, Shawn posted a time in qualifying that would put him in the 6th starting position. The bad luck continued in the heat race with Shawn as he would have to retire early due to a upper rod bearing seize in the engine. Starting the race from the 28th position, Shawn was ready to do the same as he did in the KPP final. Coming from the back, Shawn passed eighteen karts and took the checkered flag finishing 10th.

Starting out Sunday in KPP lite Shawn would yet again post a qualifying time to put him in the 4th starting position. Shawn would hold his own in the heat race in 4th and advance one position in the main for the 3rd position and another podium finish.

The struggle continued in Yamaha Jr. Heavy on Sunday, posting a time in qualifying that would put him starting the heat race in the 7th position. Figuring things out in the heat race Shawn would advance three positions and finish in 4th. Getting even faster in the main, Shawn moved up one more position for 3rd and brought home his third podium for the weekend.

"This weekend was a bit of a struggle for me" stated Shawn "a lot of ups and downs, but we came home with three podiums which was good. I want to thank my sponsors that make this possible SCS Racing, Franklin Motorsports, P1 Engines, and Grand Products."
